Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison, providing expert advice on waste identification, characterization, and packaging.
- Facilitate the safe and compliant management of waste generated by various research and operational departments.
- Develop waste sampling plans based on comprehensive process knowledge.
- Prepare waste characterization data packages and necessary documentation.
- Oversee the signing and submission of waste documentation for review and certification.
- Assist in determining appropriate waste packaging requirements.
- Contribute to the identification and execution of pollution prevention initiatives.
- Support organizational reviews, assessments, and audits concerning waste and excess materials management.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental compliance and waste management regulations.
- Technical proficiency in areas such as transuranic waste management and environmental compliance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering effective teamwork.
- Familiarity with environmental and waste sampling methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of five (5) years of pertinent experience in environmental and/or waste management, preferably within a DOE setting.
- Comprehensive understanding of Federal and State of Tennessee environmental laws, regulations, and practices.
