Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Waste Service Representative to join our dedicated team at a distinguished research facility in Oak Ridge, TN. This remote role is ideal for science or engineering professionals eager to engage in meaningful environmental protection efforts and waste management strategies. Your expertise will play a crucial role in supporting essential scientific research while promoting sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison, providing expert advice on waste identification, characterization, and packaging.
• Facilitate the safe and compliant management of waste generated by various research and operational departments.
• Develop waste sampling plans based on comprehensive process knowledge.
• Prepare waste characterization data packages and necessary documentation.
• Oversee the signing and submission of waste documentation for review and certification.
• Assist in determining appropriate waste packaging requirements.
• Contribute to the identification and execution of pollution prevention initiatives.
• Support organizational reviews, assessments, and audits concerning waste and excess materials management.
  
  

Required Skills

• Extensive knowledge of environmental compliance and waste management regulations.
• Technical proficiency in areas such as transuranic waste management and environmental compliance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering effective teamwork.
• Familiarity with environmental and waste sampling methodologies.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of five (5) years of pertinent experience in environmental and/or waste management, preferably within a DOE setting.
• Comprehensive understanding of Federal and State of Tennessee environmental laws, regulations, and practices.
