Key Responsibilities
- Function as a field-deployed Waste Services Representative.
- Serve as the primary contact for research and operations teams regarding environmental and waste management programs.
- Assist waste producers in identifying and classifying waste, excess materials, and recyclable resources.
- Ensure effective waste management practices that adhere to regulatory and company standards.
- Aid in the creation of waste sampling strategies and the preparation of waste characterization documentation.
- Review and submit waste-related documents for approval.
- Support the identification of waste packaging necessities.
- Engage in pollution prevention strategies.
- Participate in internal reviews, assessments, and evaluations pertaining to waste and excess material management.
- Broad understanding of environmental compliance and waste management regulations.
- Proficient knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry, or related environmental sciences.
- Familiarity with federal and state environmental laws, regulations, and practices.
- Awareness of relevant Executive and DOE Orders related to waste management.
- Detailed technical proficiency in specialized areas such as transuranic waste management.
- Experience with environmental sampling programs.
- Competence in using instruments and tools for environmental and waste management.
- Understanding of Low-Level Radioactive Waste and RCRA regulations.
- Knowledge of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
- A minimum of a B.S. degree in a scientific or engineering discipline.
- At least five years of relevant experience in environmental and/or waste management, ideally within the DOE sector, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Familiarity with specific organizational environmental and waste management protocols is preferred.
