POSITION TITLE: Cemetery Grounds Maintenance, Gethsemane Cemetery, Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Grounds Foreman, Gethsemane Cemetery
GENERAL INTRODUCTION:
The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.

Each position employed in Associated Catholic Cemeteries helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL PURPOSE:
Performs all grounds operations and maintenance functions at Gethsemane Cemetery for the orderly burial of the dead as well as maintaining all grounds, buildings, equipment and irrigation systems. May be asked to assist at other ACC cemeteries for grounds operations and maintenance functions on occasion.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES:

• Performs all aspects of burial services. The incumbent accomplishes this by performing grave excavations, outer burial container installations, interments, inurnments, entombments, fixing sunken graves, and other required tasks, as well as performing authorized disinterments.

1. Installs memorials. The incumbent accomplishes this by performing flush memorial and upright monument settings, vase installations, shutter settings, fixing sunken or leaning memorials, and other related tasks as required.
2. Provides general care of cemetery property by mowing, trimming, aerating, pruning, weeding, planting, blowing roads, picking up flowers and grave decorations, performing light janitorial duties, maintaining equipment, buildings and irrigation systems, and by using all tools and equipment necessary to perform work.
3. Is available to work and actively participate in all position related job functions. Incumbent accomplishes this by engaging in regular and dependable attendance on the job including arriving to work on time, by being ready to work when the shift begins, taking rest breaks and meal periods as required by ACC policy, and remaining on the job until the scheduled work shift is over.
4. Contributes to the good public relations of ACC. Incumbent accomplishes this by projecting a positive image of ACC in all contacts with publics served.

1. Primary:

• Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
• Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.

2. Education:

• High School/GED.

3. Experience:

• Landscape maintenance and landscape equipment operation (cemetery preferred)
• Light mechanical experience
• Backhoe experience preferred

4. Other Elements:

• Membership in the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 302
• Interpersonal and communication skills.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license and automobile insurance.
