Job Description
The Human Resources Manager leads the human resources function of the Firm, including recruitment, benefits administration, employee relations and performance management, leave management, onboarding/offboarding, and ensuring compliance with Firm policies and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the full recruitment and selection process, including drafting job ads, screening resumes and conducting interviews, and onboarding candidates.
- Oversee employee relations, performance management, and employee development initiatives.
- Manage benefits administration function, including enrollments, terminations, and changes, open enrollment process, employee claim issues, COBRA administration, and 401(k) plan administration.
- Ensure compliance with local/state/federal labor laws and Firm policies.
- Assist with payroll processing, including approving timesheets administering salary changes.
- Oversee leave management process including FMLA/PFL/disability leave and vacation/sick time accruals and usage.
- Maintain accurate HR records and generate reports for management.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve HR processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree and 3 years of experience as a Human Resources manager or generalist. Prior law firm experience a strong plus
- In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, and NY employment laws.
- Familiarity with HR software and systems for managing employee data and processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities and excellent organizational and time management skills.
- High ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
