Public Safety Telecommunicator (911 Dispatcher)

Responsible for receiving, processing, and managing time-life critical emergency, non-emergency, dispatch calls for service and administrative calls for service; operating the 911 console; receiving, routing, and dispersing telephone calls/messages; and providing assistance to the public/agency employees/other county personnel. Duties also include completing assignments/special projects, as directed; completing, updating, and submitting required reports/documents/forms; and maintaining control of and following up on incoming correspondence/action documents. Familiarity with routine office procedures. Ability to communicate and enunciate clearly. Ability to work well during stressful situations. Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Works rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.*Save one life, you're a hero.*
Minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Typing 25 wpm.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential and professional manner.
- Performs effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- No previous experience is required. Prior switchboard or radio experience is helpful.
- Certifications are not required for hire. All training will be provided.
