What are the responsibilities and job description for the Anticipated Middle School School Counselor (2025/26) position at Gilford Middle School?
We believe that every student has the potential to thrive, and we are seeking a compassionate, dynamic, and dedicated Middle School Counselor to help guide our students through their academic and personal journeys. As a vital member of our school community, you will provide the support, guidance, and tools that students need to overcome challenges, grow emotionally, and reach their full potential.
What You’ll Do:
• Collaborate with Educators & Administration: Be a trusted partner to teachers, administrators, and staff, offering guidance and support to ensure every student’s success.
• Provide Meaningful Counseling: Offer individual, small group, and classroom counseling that helps students navigate the complexities of middle school life—academic stress, peer relationships, and self-discovery.
• Facilitate Guidance Lessons: Lead engaging lessons that help students develop crucial life skills like problem-solving, conflict resolution, study habits, and emotional intelligence.
• Resolve Conflicts with Care: Mediate conflicts between peers, helping students learn how to navigate social dynamics and build positive relationships.
• Engage with Families: Foster strong partnerships with families, keeping them informed and involved in their child’s growth and development. Be an accessible resource for parents as they support their child’s journey.
• Guide Academic Success: Work with students to set realistic academic goals, choose the right courses, and plan for future success, all while promoting a well-balanced student life.
• Provide Support When Needed: Offer referrals to additional resources and help connect students and families with services outside the school when needed.
What You’ll Need to Bring:
• A Master’s degree in School Counseling (or a related field).
• Current NHDOE certification.
• Strong communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
• A passion for working with middle school students and their families.
• The ability to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students.
Previous experience working with middle school-aged students is a plus, but not required.
