What are the responsibilities and job description for the Anticipated Middle School School Counselor position at SAU 73 - Gilford School District?

As a vital member of our school community, you will provide the support, guidance, and tools that students need to overcome challenges, grow emotionally, and reach their full potential.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with Educators & Administration: Be a trusted partner to teachers, administrators, and staff, offering guidance and support to ensure every student’s success.
- Provide Meaningful Counseling: Offer individual, small group, and classroom counseling that helps students navigate the complexities of middle school life—academic stress, peer relationships, and self-discovery.
- Facilitate Guidance Lessons: Lead engaging lessons that help students develop crucial life skills like problem-solving, conflict resolution, study habits, and emotional intelligence.
- Resolve Conflicts with Care: Mediate conflicts between peers, helping students learn how to navigate social dynamics and build positive relationships.
- Engage with Families: Foster strong partnerships with families, keeping them informed and involved in their child’s growth and development. Be an accessible resource for parents as they support their child’s journey.
- Guide Academic Success: Work with students to set realistic academic goals, choose the right courses, and plan for future success, all while promoting a well-balanced student life.
- Provide Support When Needed: Offer referrals to additional resources and help connect students and families with services outside the school when needed.
What You’ll Need to Bring:
- A Master’s degree in School Counseling (or a related field)
- Current NHDOE certification
- Strong communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills
- A passion for working with middle school students and their families
- The ability to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students
- Previous experience working with middle school-aged students is a plus, but not required
