The HR Risk and Compliance Specialist will maintain company-wide HR and safety compliance, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

This position will report to our central office in Batesville, IN Monday - Friday.

Essential Functions:

  • Embody the GHC culture of treating our team members as our #1 priority
  • Treat all team members, vendors, and customers with courtesy and respect
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment laws & regulations. Recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Develop and update HR policies and procedures
  • Conduct compliance audits, analyze and interpret data/trends, support policy implementation, prepare compliance reports
  • Provide written guidance on the appropriate implementation of compliance programs and laws, regulations, rules and standards, through policies and procedures and other documents
  • Maintain compensation bench marking, pay grades, pay ranges, pay equity, and market value of positions
  • Spearhead safety program and ensure safety compliance
  • Identify staffing and recruiting needs. Develop and execute best practices for hiring and talent management
  • Recruit for key positions within the company
  • Run and review reports and metrics from ADP and applicant tracking system
  • Work on special projects, advise on and implement process efficiencies
  • Ensure a safe working environment. Maintain situational awareness. Identify and report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility: This position would not have any direct reports.

Work Environment: While performing the majority of the job duties, the team member is in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low.

Physical Requirements:

The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing and walking throughout the day
  • Travel to store locations as needed

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position, 40 hours/week.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business or Human Resource Management
  • 3 years of experience working in Human Resources
  • 2 years of strategic HR compliance experience
  • 1 years of safety management experience
  • HR Certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred
  • Payroll experience a plus
