What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fall 2024 Internship - Mechanical Engineer position at GITAI?
Humanity has developed horizontally on Earth, but now is the time to develop vertically. With the decreasing costs of space access, the possibilities for exploration and utilization of space are expanding exponentially. At GITAI, we are at the cutting edge of this vertical development, providing the robotic technologies that enable safe and affordable labor in space. Our space robot solution reduces the operational cost in space by 100 times and will make sustained human presence and activity in space a reality.
We are currently hiring 2024 Fall Engineering Interns for the following teams:
- Terrestrial Demonstration for On-orbit Servicing and Lunar Infrastructure Construction
During the interview process, you will be asked to complete a SPACE ROBOT CONCEPT STUDY ASSIGNMENT that will assess your imagination for the construction of a lunar base according to information disclosed by GITAI. We recommend you watch GITAI's Youtube channel in advance!
Minimum Qualifications
- Qualified candidates must be enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program from an accredited college or university in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or other engineering discipline
- At least 1 year of experience in the design, analysis, and manufacturing of electro-mechanical systems - internship and extracurricular experience applicable
- Strong hands-on/DIY attitude to get things done the fastest way possible
- Strong focus on precision and attention to detail
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and mechanical drawing
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing robot
- Experience in designing space related hardware (satellites, rovers, etc.)
Additional Qualifications
- Ability to work on weekends as necessary, depending on the work schedule
- Physical capabilities to independently lift objects weighing up to 50lbs

Salary/Pay
$25/hr - $35/hr
Salary for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
