Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Utility Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role requires strong analytical skills and will play a crucial role in the financial health of our organization by ensuring timely and accurate billing practices.
Responsibilities:
- Fully learn and adhere to the contract guidelines and billing requirements for various utility customers.
- Collect all necessary information to create invoices and supporting spreadsheets for utility billing.
- Generate Consumers Energy invoices on a daily basis.
- Convert timesheets into billable hours and determine the appropriate Crew or Flagging rate.
- Input utility invoices into accounting software on a daily basis.
- Email utility invoices and supporting documentation daily to customers
- Monitor the progress of long-term projects by conferring with branch managers on project status.
- Schedule ongoing/open billings each month to ensure timely invoicing.
- Track, maintain, and follow up on equipment quantities.
- Compare quantities delivered and returned, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
- Respond to customer requests for invoices, billing details, or equipment status.
- Create and maintain monthly tracking reports to monitor billing status and project progress.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Undergraduate degree, preferably in Accounting, Business, Economics, or Mathematics.
- Skills & Experience:
- Meticulous attention to detail with excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly with strong Excel skills (Advanced Excel is a must).
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to specialized software and billing systems.
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Information:
- Occasional overtime may be required, particularly during peak billing periods.
- A modified or reduced work schedule may be available during the Winter months.
This position requires excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with internal teams and customers

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
