What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Foreman position at Givens Lifting Systems?
Givens Lifting Systems Inc. of Perrysburg, Ohio is looking for a shop foreman to supervise fabricators, assemblers and installers of custom machinery.
We manufacture cranes, manipulators and custom machinery and employ welders, machinists and assemblers. Our equipment, which is almost always unique to the project at hand, are installed all over the continental US.
We’re looking for an energetic, motivated foreman who can:
-interpret and understand machine drawings
-co-ordinate the manufacture of parts with welders, machinists and assemblers
-assemble custom machines, cranes, manipulators, grippers and other equipment
-learn pneumatic logic and complex valve assemblies
-troubleshoot pneumatic and mechanical systems in our shop and at our customers’ plants
-confer with machine designers on-the-fly to diagnose and correct problems
-co-ordinate the arrival of parts and the shipping of finished assemblies
-travel anywhere in the US to help install equipment
-act as a project leader to bring a machine together in spite of difficulties and setbacks
The skills you would need:
-experience with building new equipment would be welcome
-experience in a leadership position would be valuable
-experience with fixing machinery would be an asset
-experience with welding or machining would be very helpful
-a gung-ho, can-do attitude is essential
This is not a desk job! You would be on your feet assembling machinery, solving problems and coordinating with other skilled trades 95% of your day. You would take part in installations of the machinery you and your staff have assembled.
There would be a 6-month period where you would learn our systems before you would take over as foreman.

Pay: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
