Director of Business Development - Defense

We are looking for a Director of Business Development to support our rapidly expanding portfolio of work across the federal government. The individual will provide thought leadership, capture, customer relationship, win themes, teaming, proposal, and pricing support. The individual will drive new revenue, expand our pipeline through opportunity identification and qualification, and partner with our Line of Business Leaders to refine our strategy and collaboratively win new work in this market.
The position will report to the CEO. Ideally, this role will be based in the DMV area and attend in-person meetings and events as required. Remote candidates with exceptional qualifications and experience may be considered. Travel to client sites, Global Alliant offices, and conferences will be required.
In this role, you will :
Proven track record in generating an average of $25 M per year in the federal space for the past 5 years.
Must have solid and extensive federal customer connections and relationships.
Collaborate on growth strategy in collaboration with Line of Business and Portfolio Leaders.
Support the qualification of new opportunities by (1) connecting (either personally or via other staff within the business) with potential clients and contracting officers, (2) collecting competitive intelligence, and (3) conducting opportunity research with support from the market research team to develop win strategies.
Build client relationship on behalf of Global Alliant.
Act as brand ambassador.
Expand the pipeline by identifying new opportunities in partnership with the growth team.
Participate in all capture phases for new strategic opportunities through client engagement, partner engagement, and solution development to enhance win probability.
Contribute to solution development and client engagement for recompetes.
Participate in color team reviews for proposals.
Proven Experience in developing growth strategies.
Leverage existing and build new relationships to expand Global Alliant's network and reputation with federal clients and potential partners through active participation in industry events, conferences, and individual meetings.
Required Qualifications :
10 years of experience in federal business development, working in the defense sector.
10 years of experience with pipeline management as demonstrated through simultaneous management of opportunities at all stages of the growth lifecycle for opportunities actively qualified or captured in the past 5 years.
10 years of experience qualifying opportunities, preparing executive briefing materials, and developing a notional win strategy to secure capture and proposal resources for at least 5 opportunities.
Professional Skills :
Demonstrated experience achieving sales in Information Technology contracts.
Success in capturing new opportunities through developing client relationships, solutions, teaming strategy, recruitment strategy, and competitive intelligence gathering, ultimately developing proposal strategy and coaching proposal writers as demonstrated in at least 3 contract wins >
50M each during the past 5 years.
Relationships with federal Chief Information Officers and government branch chiefs, group directors
Proven ability to develop relationships where none exist.
