What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Desk Technician position at Global Industries, Inc.?

Job purpose

IT Service Desk professionals act as the primary contact for all IT problems throughout the company.  The ideal candidate will be a service-minded problem solver with excellent written and phone communication skills.  They will be patient, resourceful and have a desire to help others when necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor phone and email support requests from employees throughout the company.
  • Enter and Monitor support tickets into the IT Ticketing System (Service Desk Plus) and provide first and second level technical. assistance for computer, printers, software, and mobile device issues.
  • Install desktop hardware, software and printers as needed.
  • Documenting for Installations. Setup and troubleshooting.
  • Setting up and updating User AD accounts. 
  • Assist with technical support on Global’s customer portal. 
  • Work on projects when assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience or military equivalent.
  • Experience working with Windows 10/11 operating system.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office 2016/O365.
  • Troubleshooting skills and the ability to document troubleshooting steps as required.
  • iOS/Android experience preferred.
  • Mac OS experience is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to solve problems efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and have strong collaboration skills.
  • OnBase experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Handheld scanner experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Basic networking experience preferred but not required.
