Overview
The New Patient Scheduler will be responsible for scheduling initial patient appointments, gathering necessary information, and ensuring smooth communication between new patients and the medical team. You will work closely with the front desk, medical assistants, and physicians to coordinate appointments and provide excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer incoming calls and emails from potential new patients to schedule appointments.
- Obtain necessary demographic, insurance, and medical history information from new patients.
- Ensure all patient information is accurately entered into the system.
- Collaborate with physicians and medical staff to find the most appropriate appointment times.
- Provide patients with details about appointments, office policies, and any required documentation.
- Ensure a smooth patient experience by confirming appointments, following up on cancellations or rescheduling, and answering general questions.
- Handle and resolve any issues or concerns that new patients may have prior to their appointment.
- Maintain a high level of patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations at all times.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency with medical scheduling software.
- Knowledge of insurance verification and medical terminology is a plus.
- Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in medical administration a plus.
