Job Description: Food Safety Scientist
We seek a highly skilled Food Safety Scientist to join our Quality team at GNT USA, LLC. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing scientific expertise and innovative solutions to address food safety and quality challenges.
Key duties include:
- Inspecting, sampling, and performing basic tests on incoming raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Submitting samples and summarizing data from internal and third-party testing.
- Leveraging Environmental Monitoring Programs (EMP), training staff, and ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Conducting risk assessments and challenge studies based on scientific literature and risk assessment tools.
- Offering technical expertise to resolve food safety, sanitation, and quality issues and supporting product launches.
- Designing, executing, and reporting on scientific studies that promote innovation, solve operational problems, and meet regulatory standards.
- Developing training programs focused on food safety, sanitation, and microbiological methods.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Planning, designing, and procuring equipment to establish and launch an in-house microbiological laboratory.
- Developing, reviewing, and revising microbiological methods and laboratory policies and SOPs.
- Influencing cross-functional teams to achieve results and lead initiatives related to operational transformation.
- Promoting a culture of food safety across the GNT USA network through education and training.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or Food Microbiology with three years of food/beverage industry experience, or Master's/Ph.D. with two years of experience.
- Strong knowledge of beverage/food microbiology and laboratory skills related to microbiology, including Good Laboratory Practices.
- Hands-on expertise with food safety for high-acid/low-acid beverages and thermal/chilled processing.
- Project management, problem-solving, data interpretation, and effective communication skills.
