Summary:
The Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) Simulator Operator/Maritime Technical Instructor will provide support to the US Army Transportation School, Sustainment Center of Excellence (SCoE) MITD-Simulator Operator/Technical Instructor Support Services.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide maritime technical instructor support to all 88K10-40 and 880A1/2 AIT, PME, and functional training when required.
- The contractor must utilize expert knowledge in editing and developing simulation scenarios as outlined in the MSC EPF, 88K and 880A POI.
- Must be able to instruct whether in the simulators, on ship, in the classroom, and/or utilizing the various live training aids or laboratories throughout MITD that support maritime training.
- The simulator is in use during the work week and is scheduled for multiple courses and blocks of instruction. The operator to simulator ratio is 1:1. There is one simulator. Training is an on-going activity while all other courses/classes are in session.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Contractor must have practical knowledge of and be able to handle in practice, docking and undocking, supplies in various ship and shore movement scenarios, electronic and visual navigation, and radio and visual communications procedures for the EPF. Contractor must be capable of obtaining the required USCG instructor qualifications for Radar/ARPA, and Bridge Resource Management.
- Must be able to physically conduct simulator operator/technical instructor/writer duties and in the stated subject area when required in a classroom, simulator, live training aid, and/or ship environment.
- Standing for extended periods of time on hard decks or floors exposed to heat and cold conditions is common when conducting live training events.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations identify existing or potential problems and recommend solutions.
- Proficiency in the following Microsoft software programs, which will be furnished as part of the workstation for performance to include software updates as provided: Word 2013; Excel 2013; PowerPoint 2013; and Outlook 2013.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum education level is a high school graduate or a GED.
- Maritime candidates must have ability to be vetted as meeting the qualifications as a vessel watch officer through the National Maritime Center (NMC) for acceptance as a U.S. Coast Guard approved instructor.
- Must be able to fully operate the EPF simulator and conduct all Military Sealift Command (MSC) EPF training sessions that the simulator provides training for.
- Must have current experience and knowledge and be able to train on tasks of associated maritime systems such as RADAR/ARPA, GMDSS, ECDIS, and tactical / maritime radios.
- Initial Military Training (IMT) and Professional Military Education (PME) courses required for the specific MOS.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An advanced degree in a related field.
