Job purpose
Under the direction of the Controller, the incumbent oversees and performs functions related to the accounting functions including assisting with month-end close and financial statement preparation, assist with internal/external and regulatory agency audits and other financial reporting as deemed necessary. The incumbent performs financial, operational and technical analysis.
Duties and responsibilities
- Exhibit conduct in accordance with all Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) Rules and Regulations, Federal and State laws and regulations, and Company and departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform the duties and responsibilities associated with the IGB Statewide Voluntary Self-Exclusion Program as described in Section A of this ICS.
- Consistently deliver positive, courteous, and professional guest service in all interactions with guests, visitors, vendors, and fellow team members.
- Accountable for the operation of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger areas.
- Assist with development of policies, procedures, and internal controls within directly assigned areas to ensure compliance with applicable laws, efficiency, and proper controls.
- Direct the analysis, review, and presentation to senior management of financial results, including monthly and year-end financial results, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Work with external auditors and third parties on audits or other financial matters as necessary.
- Review and approve all legally required Federal and State tax returns and filings within required deadlines.
- Develop financial and operating statements. Assists and/or presents information.
- Support review meetings with managers to identify and implement process improvements.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of management.
- Maintain confidentiality of all company records.
- Record and report daily revenue, drop, and payout information for each casino department.
- Review the daily audits for compliance with Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) and Regulations, and audit for accuracy.
- Prepare and complete specific GCB requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any auditing issues.
- Communicate with management any weaknesses or breaches of the property’s Internal Control System.
- Stay abreast of current trends and practices within area of responsibility and communicate pertinent information to management, peers, direct reports, and team members as appropriate.
- Promote positive public/team member relations at all times.
- Perform any duties on or off-site involving guest services and quality control including, but not limited to, special events, guest giveaways, crowd control, property cleanliness, and other hospitality functions as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
- Safeguard the confidential information of all team members, department, and company records.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying appropriate management of concerns and observations.
- Ensure prompt and discrete notification to senior management and/or the Ethics Hotline of any observation of illegal acts and/or internal ethics violations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field required.
- At least one (1) year of Accounting/Finance experience.
- Previous Gaming audit experience.
- Ability to obtain a gaming license.
- Must have solid planning, time management, decision-making, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-tasking, hands-on environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals.
- Strong computer skills in Accounting Software systems such as Oracle, and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
