Summary: Golding is a sauce and salad dressing manufacturer looking for an R&D Food Scientist for our St. Louis Food Innovation lab capable of working in a fast-paced food production facility.
The R&D Food Scientist is responsible for development of new products and providing technical support to Quality and production for existing products.
Primary Tasks/Responsibilities:
- - Provide technical support functions of R&D including custom adds and trouble shooting for production and Quality.
- - Partner with Marketing and Sales to identify and develop new product platforms and improvements which delight customers and support business strategies.
- - Develop new products from concept through first production:
- o Participate in brainstorming and ideation to develop new concepts.
- o Source raw ingredients and specifications that meet company standards.
- o Develop formula and processing specifications and costing for new product prototypes.
- o Develop tests to make sure products meet food safety, quality standards and legal requirements.
- o Support new product launch to plant startup until quality standards are established.
- o Provide sales samples of new products as requested by Sales and Marketing.
- o Set up sensory panels to evaluate new products or existing products.
- o Conduct shelf-life tests on new products.
- o Assist regulatory to generate nutritional data, assuring compliance with regulatory nutritional and label compliance.
- - Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities through reformulation.
- - Comply with all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations.
- - Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
- - Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
- - Adhere to all safety and security policies and procedures.
- - Follow all food safety and quality system requirements by committing to meet all pertinent regulatory, customer and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) requirements.
Qualifications:
- - Bachelors degree in food science or other relevant field required.
- - 5-10 years of experience in food industry either in quality, or R&D
- - Experience in Sauces and Dressing industry preferred

- - Must be able to work in a wet and/or humid environment. Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals will occur. Exposure to nut allergens.
