L.J Gonzer Associates is looking for individuals to join our pool of qualified candidates for potential assignment as a Purchasing Assistant. You'll conduct business transactions and office activities related to Customer Service, Purchasing and inventory of the company.-Prepare purchase orders or bid requests - type, word process, or data entry of all purchase orders and record cards -Operate office machines and computers, such as typewriters, calculators, scanners, copiers, printers, faxes, date stamps, time clocks, etc. -Process requisitions by researching inventory requirements and purchasing options-Purchase supplies -Maintain orderly and appropriate stocks of office supplies as needed, or as directed by management -Call, fax, mail and / or email vendors all new purchase orders -Receive confirmations and contact vendors to find out status of an order -Contact vendors with discrepancies in quantity and quality -Interface with all departments and resolve problems and issues with needed purchase items -Assist other departments to promote the orderly and timely procurement of goods & services -Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority-Help develop the purchasing and inventory tracking system -Copy data and compile records and reports-Operate computer terminal to input and retrieve data -Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule-Associates degree -1 or 2 years of experience in manufacturing purchasing / production planning / materials control type of function or equivalent -Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals -Ability to write routine reports and correspondence -Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals -Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage-Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
