Outreach Worker/ Assistant

Outreach at Good News in the Neighborhood is one of the key elements of the church. The outreach worker will work directly with the outreach director to coordinate and expedite outreach events and service opportunities. The outreach worker will assist and at times facilitate outreach events either at the church or in the community. This person needs to be self-reliant, effective and efficient at their duties, while encompassing a healthy love of people and the work that is to be performed at each location.

Duties include:

• Cleaning Truck after every trip out
• Inventory and maintenance of truck
• Driving the truck during the week giving out ice cream as well as driving to events
• Communicating with volunteers and general public about serving and the church
• Collaborate with Outreach Minister concerning upcoming events and opportunities to serve
• Independent and self-starter
• Attend staff meetings and community meetings when needed
• Work well with others
• Must be able to attend services at church

This person must be able to:

• Drive the Good News Truck, have an active and clean driver’s license
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Be able to work the schedule given and at times be flexible if extra events come up.
• Able to work weekends
• Excellent communication skills and public speaking skills
• Be able to articulate the vision and mission of Good News in the Neighborhood at events.
• Organize materials
• Cultivate relationships with others

Schedule: Monday, Wednesday and Friday (3-9pm) 6 hours, Saturdays (9-3pm) (6 hours)= 12-15 hours a week

May 1st- Oct 31st

Pay: $20 an hour without benefits

Training: 5 hours of training prior to driving the truck independently

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
