Job Summary:
-
The Vice President of Finance (VPF) of GSRN will provide effective leadership and direction in innovation, planning, policy development, budget process and improvement for fiscal, and physical plant. The VFP will report directly to the CEO and the CFO Advisor and will be supported by directors, supervisors, senior accountants, financial analysts, as well as a large team of clerks and patient accounting billers/collectors. This person will play a key role in the management of the finance department of GSRN and GSPP.
The VPF will play the most crucial role in overseeing all financial operational functions of the organization. He/she must be able to collaborate with all levels of the organization to ensure that financial goals are achieved and unite all areas that report to this position. Those areas include GSRN Accounting & Treasury, GSPP Finance, Reimbursement, Patient accounting, FP&A, and Revenue Compliance. The VPF will ensure that all budgets and financial statements are precise and accurate, organizing meetings with the staff to ensure cooperation and collaboration on all finance matters, and keeping the CEO and CFO Advisor informed of all budgetary and financial matters pertaining to revenues and expenses. The VPF will also use his/her educational and professional experience to ensure that all external audits are timely and accurate.

Essential Functions:

Utilizes astute leadership skills in the management and development of Finance team staff.

Responsible for the delivery of customer focused financial services for the organization.

Responsible for the delivery of technical and consultative support to the CEO and CFO Advisor in all applicable facets of GSRN Funds Flow and Financial Planning.

Responsible for the preparation of entity financial statements in accordance with GSRN and generally accepted accounting principles.

Responsible of overseeing the monthly variance analysis which is included in the monthly reporting package to the Board and senior leadership.

Directs the preparation of annual operational and capital budgets.

Ensures an adequate system of internal controls appropriate for a complex financial operating environment.

Responsible for ensuring that the entity’s bond covenant compliance monitoring and reporting, balance sheet analysis, cash flow projections and planning, high-level system-wide projections, governmental reporting, grant and endowment accounting, entity long-range planning.

Oversees and assists with GSPP data analysis as needed, corporate overhead analysis, Finance Committee Presentations, Board Committee Presentations, high level system-level financial analysis, year-end audits.

Maintains relationship with and serves as liaison between GSRN and independent audit firm, investment advisors, banking firms, third-party payer/managed care plans, rating agencies and other professional service providers. Assists with managed care and other payer contract analysis. Monitors compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to financial systems.

Serves as staff liaison to the investment sub-committee and implements investment policy as directed by the committee.

Actively participates in and may serve as a member of the Board of Advisors and/or as Treasurer of the Good Shepherd Reciprocal Risk Retention Group, the GSRN’s self-insurance entity.

Upgrades financial systems as needed to stay current with latest technology.

May work on larger, enterprise projects as assigned.

Manages, trains, and develops assigned directors.

Performs duties in accordance with Good Shepherd and entity values, policies, and procedures.

Advises CEO on finance and operations matters and manages the development and execution of contracts, agreements, and special projects as assigned by the CEO.

Works closely with CHRO to coordinate benefits, insurance, payroll, etc.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting /Finance or similar field required.

Master's Degree MBA preferred (CPA may be substituted for Master’s Degree)

Work Experience
-
10 years Progressive experience in financial management position required (hospital or healthcare-related enterprise strongly preferred) .
