GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician, N. Nevada is responsible for performing facilities maintenance tasks at all Goodwill stores and Donation Xpress sites in the Northern Nevada/Tahoe region, identifying and troubleshooting facilities maintenance problems, performing routine, reactive and preventative maintenance, repairs and upgrades. This position is key to ensuring that facilities maintenance projects are completed on time and within budget and requires the ability to work independently with a high level of personal/professional integrity and excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repairs making notes and recommendations using a pre-established check sheet.
- Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
- Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, etc.).
- Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
- Ensures buildings and equipment are properly maintained and in good working condition, making minor repairs as needed.
- Delivers, installs and repairs miscellaneous accessories and equipment.
- Assists contractors, vendors and property managers with major repairs and maintenance of buildings and equipment.
- Orders parts and maintains required documents.
- Completes all facilities maintenance activities in accordance with established safety standards and regulations as prescribed by OSHA, NEC, Life Safety Codes, and other Federal, State, or local agencies as applicable.
- Ensures all facilities maintenance activities are performed as scheduled and completed on time, including emergencies that may arise.
- Effectively coordinates maintenance and/or repair issues with management and safety personnel.
- Maintains all necessary documentation required by state and county agencies, Goodwill, OSHA, CARF, NISH and other regulatory compliance organizations.
- Identifies departmental needs and maintenance issues and executes purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
- Reports all incidents and accidents to immediate Supervisor.
- Maintains work orders on facilities maintenance software and updates as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in general building maintenance.
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
- Proficient in the use of power tools pertaining to all types of maintenance and repair work.
- Ability to present a neat, and clean appearance that is reflective of Goodwill’s positive image in the community.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be customer service-oriented.
- Ability to meet or exceed Goodwill’s attendance and punctuality standards.
- Ability to understand and follow directions as given.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and with a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business.
- Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others, or property.
