POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of accounting team members and ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of specific assigned accounting functions. Examines all work for efficiency, accuracy and conformance to policies and programs. Develop skills for accounting team members under their supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
- Responsible for reconciling and accounting for retail sales and reporting.
- Responsible for treasury management by analyzing and creating transfers as needed to prepare for upcoming expenses.
- Responsible for real estate construction planning and loan draws.
- Responsible for reporting such as retail statistics, GII, and FTE.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close processes are completed.
- Review the accuracy and completeness of transactions of the assigned accounting staff.
- Support budget and forecasting activities.
- Enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles in daily processes.
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and bank reconciliations monthly.
- Collaborate with other accounting management to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Establish efficient workflows and maintain fiscal files and records to support recorded transactions.
- Develop team members by providing required training. Monitor and communicate performance feedback on a timely basis.
- To accommodate business needs and objectives and other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field.
- Prefer: 3 years of accounting experience, responsible for legal, regulatory, and GAAP compliance.
- Retail and non-profit accounting experience very helpful.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software and databases.
- Excellent computer skills, including all Microsoft Office programs; strong spreadsheet and analysis skills.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
