The Gorman-Rupp Company, headquartered in Mansfield, Ohio, has been designing, manufacturing, and selling pumps and pumping systems for use in water, wastewater, construction, industrial, original equipment, agriculture, fire protection, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, and other liquid-handling applications for over 90 years.
We are seeking a Benefits Specialist to join our team in Mansfield, Ohio. Key responsibilities of this role will be coordinating day-to-day plan administration associated with company offered benefit programs for active and retiree populations.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties
Assumes responsibility for the effective administration and coordination of employee benefit programs.
- Oversee COBRA administration.
- Oversee retiree invoicing and collection.
- Prepare and process monthly billing for benefit invoices and ensure accuracy via reconciliation of enrollment and coverage level reports.
- Maintain company-related benefit files, records, reports and distributes summary plan documentation.
- Assist the wellness committee with wellness initiatives.
- Work with healthcare partners to resolve issues and concerns elevated from divisional HR departments.
Assumes responsibility for employee engagement and enrollment.
- Assist with the setup and processing of life events and the annual open enrollment process, including coordination of vendor materials, meeting organization and presentation, vendor implementation, and HRIS updates.
- Conduct benefit presentations to enhance understanding of the company’s benefit package.
- Assist in the development of employee communication and presentations, including 401(k) financial education meetings.
Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining professional working relations with employees, retirees, vendors, and brokers.
- Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries from employees and retirees regarding benefits and other HR matters.
- Address and resolve concerns or issues with empathy and in compliance with company guidelines.
- Fosters positive relationships with brokers and vendors ensuring commitments are fulfilled accurately and in a timely manner.
Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Ensures work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
- Prepares letters, reports and summaries as requested.
- Stays well informed regarding benefit programs and compliance matters.
- Performs miscellaneous HR support and special projects as assigned.
- Travel, approximately 15%.
Education/Certification
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related major preferred
Experience Required
3 years of benefits or human resources experience
Required Knowledge
Strong knowledge of benefit principals, laws, and regulations
Strong computer acumen – Excel and Database
Skills/Abilities
Problem solving, decision-making, and attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and summarize data and make recommendations
Communication skills, both verbal and written
Project management and multitasking
Self-motivated, confidential and professional

Working Conditions
Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
Hybrid work available: however, centralization to our physical offices essential.
Candidates must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States.
