POSITION TITLE: Technology Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Technology

Summary:
The Technology support specialist assists District staff and students in maintaining and using District wide technology to meet District objectives. Individual may be assigned areas of primary responsibility, but each specialist must be able to provide support services for all District wide technology.
Reporting Relationships:
- Works jointly with the Director of Technology, Director of Network Operations and Technology Support Staff.
- Works cooperatively with administrators, supervisors, staff, students, and the community to perform job responsibilities as outlined.
- Reports directly to the Director of Technology.
Terms of Employment:
- Salary and Benefits are as described in the current Agreement.
- Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions set forth by the Board of Directors and the Agreement.
Qualifications:
To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.
- Associates Degree or up to 2 years of college or equivalent vocation/technical training.
- Proficient with Microsoft based PCs and operating systems preferred, Chromes OS and related experiences to Chromebooks. Experience in low level Ethernet-based networking, experience installing PC hardware and software, knowledge of Microsoft Office / Google suite programs and various productivity applications and active networking components.
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
- Meet requirements set forth by the State of Pennsylvania and the Board of School Directors for employment.
Physical and Ability Requirements:

- Ability to use fingers and hands to pick, feel and grasp objects.
- Ability to reach, pull, and use repetitive motions.
- Some stooping, kneeling, bending and twisting of the body required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Troubleshoots software and hardware failures and brings these failures to a satisfactory resolution.
- Acts as Help Desk Support.
- Serve as resource to staff in answering questions and assisting in effective utilization of District technology.
- Performs installation of new and updated hardware and software in both a stand-alone and networked environment.
- Aides District employees in their use of the computer equipment.
- Provide onsite services to set-up computer and provide basic computer orientation.
- Maintain network security to protect against viruses, hackers, and other damages. Maintain confidentiality and integrity of electronic records.
- Promotes and ensures security and confidentiality of computer systems and data.
- Maintains a broad knowledge of emerging technology issues in education.
- Participates in training sessions and workshops to develop and maintain technical knowledge and skills.
- Maintains confidentially about students in accordance with district guidelines.
- Maintains a positive demeanor at all time including, but not limited to, use of appropriate language.
- Demonstrates openness to suggestions for improving performance.
- Maintains an appropriate record of punctuality and attendance.
- Demonstrates initiative, independence and decision making appropriate to the performance tasks of this position.
- Adheres to professional, ethical, and legal standards.
- Any other duties related to computers as assigned by the Director of Technology.
