Ag Accountant

A well-established, multi-generational agricultural operation is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial processes for both grain and livestock operations. This role will play a key part in maintaining financial accuracy, optimizing efficiency, and supporting long-term business growth. The ideal candidate will have experience in agricultural accounting, cost tracking, and financial reporting.

Accountant Key Responsibilities

• Oversee financial transactions related to grain farming, cattle feedlot operations, and agribusiness services
• Manage accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and financial record-keeping
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and cost reports for diverse farming activities
• Reconcile bank accounts and maintain accurate cash flow tracking
• Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations, including agricultural tax incentives
• Collaborate with farm management to optimize financial processes and decision-making
• Assist with inventory valuation, cost accounting, and risk management strategies
• Work closely with external auditors, tax professionals, and financial advisors
  
  

Accountant Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Two or more years of accounting experience, preferably in agriculture or agribusiness
• Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, AgriSolutions, or ProSystem fx
• Experience with cost accounting, financial reporting, and tax compliance
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
