Job Description: Commercial Construction Estimator
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. The estimator will be responsible for analyzing project specifications, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure accurate and competitive bids. This role requires expertise in both conceptual and design-build estimating, enabling the candidate to develop cost projections with limited information and assist in project planning from early design stages. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of construction materials and labor costs, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers and engineers to develop accurate budgets and proposals.
Responsibilities:
Review project plans, specifications, and requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates.
Develop conceptual estimates based on preliminary project information.
Perform design-build estimating, working closely with architects and engineers to refine budgets as designs evolve.
Obtain and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
Work closely with project managers and clients to refine estimates and address budget concerns.
Prepare and present bid proposals, including scope clarifications and value engineering options.
Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and assess project risks.
Stay up to date on industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and construction methods.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a construction estimator, preferably in commercial construction.
Strong knowledge of construction costs, materials, and labor requirements.
Experience in conceptual estimating and design-build projects.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines.
