What are the responsibilities and job description for the Voter Registration Specialist position at Graham County?
Description of responsibilities:
· Assists in planning, organizing and preparing for upcoming Elections.
· Voter Registration, ballot by mail and emergency voting procedures.
· Local, state and federal election laws, rules and regulations.
· Codes used for voter registration and document recordings.
· Statewide voter registration system.
· Determines validity of petition signatures during the petition process.
· Prepares statutory reports on Federal Voters and for the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC).
· Prepares and provides public records (voter data) requests.
· Provides information to staff and the public concerning voter registration, voting laws, rules and regulations.
· Performs specialized clerical and office duties with various election and voter registration duties.
· Assists the public.
· Scans records.
· Examines deeds, mortgages and other instruments to determine legibility and adherence to requirements.
· Set up customer accounts and prepares account billing.
· Document preservation and destruction.
· Communicates and acts in a professional manner with the Secretary of State’s Office, co-workers, work contacts and public.
· Performs special assignments as requested.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required experience: The ideal candidate will have three years’ experience performing advanced secretarial, administrative, or clerical tasks.
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or G.E.D. and Three (3) years’ experience performing advanced secretarial, administrative or clerical tasks applying local, state or federal regulations with two(2) of those years in voter registration or elections; One (1) year performing lead or supervisory duties or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications; registered voter of Graham County; must maintain an Election Officer Certification issued by the Arizona Secretary of State, or be able to acquire such certification within six months of appointment or upon the first available certification program; complete handwriting analysis classes within two years of employment; possession of a valid Arizona driver’s license, with a history of safe driving and the ability to maintain a safe driving record.
