SUMMARY
Mountain Access Attendants are responsible for providing exemplary guest service while ensuring that all guests have a valid lift ticket or pass to access lifts. Mountain Access Attendants work outdoors at all lift locations to operate and monitor RFID gates to ensure efficient ticket checking and traffic flow through lift maze areas. This position works closely with Lift Operators, Activity Center and Product Sales staff, Product Development and other Mountain Operations departments to ensure safe and efficient guest flow through lifts. Identify guests with ticketing issues and assist with basic troubleshooting. A key part of every employee's job is to serve as a Targhee ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible to report to work in appropriate uniform and follow grooming/appearance standards.
- Attend daily meetings and participate in safety discussions and training.
- Ensure that all mechanical components of RFID gates are functioning properly by checking and performing routine inspections and notifying supervisors of any abnormalities.
- Perform daily start-up procedures including power up, network connection establishment, testing of lane gates, visually inspect structures for unusual conditions, and prepare Access Gates for daily operations.
- Set up lift maze and signs at beginning of day and maintain the maze area throughout the day. Disassemble and store maze materials at the end of the day.
- Remove and maintain snow surfaces around lift mazes and RFID gates utilizing a variety of hand and power tools. Common tools include shovels, scoops, rakes, ice picks, pickaxes, power drills, snowblowers, etc.
- Monitor the condition of the maze area and signage throughout the day and perform maintenance as needed.
- Monitor lane-watch tablet PC’s to screen potential fraudulent ticket use and prevent guests from accessing lifts without valid tickets or passes.
- Identify guests who are experiencing difficulty passing through an access gate, greet the guest and provide basic troubleshooting to determine if the guest has a valid ticket or pass.
- Gain and use an understanding of different ticket and pass product types and potential problems with each type of ticket.
- Learn the common fault indications of the RFID gates and follow established procedures to perform basic troubleshooting and repair.
- Interact with guests to answer questions, communicate mountain announcements, and provide positive guest interactions.
- Refuse lift access to guests who do not have a valid lift ticket or pass. Confiscate pass media from guests who are using it fraudulently.
- Utilize telephones and two-way radios to communicate ticketing problems with supervisors and the ticket sales team.
- Ski/ride in a safe and responsible manner while moving between work stations. Communicate on-mountain travel routes with supervisors and mountain dispatch as needed and respond appropriately to on-mountain incidents.
- Conduct lift maze traffic controlling as skier volume dictates. Ensure orderly and fair lift line flow is established and maintained.
- Continuously monitor the flow of guests through RFID gate lanes and promptly respond to guests who need assistance or to potential equipment failures.
- Communicate equipment problems with supervisors and the IT department.
- Reposition RFID gantries to conduct snow removal and grooming operations as needed.
- Perform closing duties by storing maze materials and signs, stowing gantries in their nighttime position, completing daily report logs, and any other closing duties assigned.
- Provide superior service to our guests and fellow employees by greeting, interacting, answering questions and providing resort information.
- Respond to all guests and employees in a courteous manner and professional manner.
- Positively contributes to the team effort by assisting other staff as needed.
- Participate in incident investigations by filling out incident reports.
- Complete required paperwork to document guest issues, ticketing problem reports, bad-pass payout logs, etc.
- Remain flexible with work location assignments, hours, and tasks depending on business needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
- Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.
- Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
- Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
- Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort’s Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
- Skis within ability level, taking safe and direct routes of travel. Follows Skier’s Responsibility Code.
- Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
- Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.
