Job Description

Guest Services Attendant

EXEMPT: No
SHIFT: Desk is open 24 hours per day everyday. Typical shift is 8 hours
DEPARTMENT: Rooms Division
REPORTS TO: General Manager

SUMMARY: Guest check-in, guest check-out, makes guest reservations and insures a successful guest stay by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Operates PBX telephone console to receive incoming calls. This requires use of fingers, ability to speak clearly and ability to hear.
2. Guest check-in and check-out with accuracy. This requires ability to understand and speak English. Other languages are helpful but not required.
3. Ability to type and use 10-key
4. Have a thorough working knowledge of Autoclerk front desk system and Nova, the

Best Western system, as it pertains to the front office. Have complete working knowledge of all related equipment at the front desk.

5. Be familiar with hotel layout, room types and rate categories.
6. Know the location of all work materials and keep materials stocked and organized.
7. Be familiar with hotel emergency procedures and expedite the handling of all occurrences of an emergency nature.
8. Be responsible for all funds in clerk’s care.
9. Balance out paperwork.
10. Issue guest passports and parking pass when required.
11. Makes future reservations and answer inquiries using the training tools provided by the hotel. This requires ability to hear/listen and the ability to apply knowledge of the hotel to the guest needs.

12. Collect and distribute mail and messages.
13. Perform variety of clerical duties.
14. Accurately perform special front desk projects assigned by a manager.

High school diploma or equivalent; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
