What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front/Back Office Medical Assistant position at Grass Valley Extended Care/ Kuldip Gill MD?
Grass Valley Extended Care is seeking qualified candidates to fill Medical Assistant/Call Center. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate clearly and appropriately with patients, our providers, and other staff members. Must be able to vital and room patients, give injections and perform in office testing such as EKG’s, ABI, MMSE, finger sticks and UA dip. Knowledge of EMR, answering multi-line phones, checking patients in and out, scheduling appointments, taking copayments and collecting outstanding balances, get insurance card copies scanned into the EMR, refill medications, follow up on referrals and orders. You must be a team player, be punctual and have great attendance.
Responsibilities:
-Take patient vital signs, room patient's, obtaining appropriate patients medical/family history, documentation of patient symptoms/issues/concerns
-Administer medications and injections, and refilling prescriptions as directed by healthcare providers
-Perform in office testing such as but not limited to EKG's, ABI's, MMSE's finer sticks and UA dips.
-Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies
-Schedule patient appointments, referrals, prior authorizations and manage patient flow in the clinic
-Provide patient education on medical conditions, treatments, and medications
-Act as primary contact for patients to build rapport and maintain patient satisfaction, improvement in health status, and compliance with program
-Conducts clinical assessments, as necessary, and develops, monitors, evaluates, and revises the member's care plan to meet the member's needs.
-Provide compassionate care to diverse patients and their families.
-Manages patient's medical care as appropriate including:
-Orders and monitor of diagnostics including laboratory studies, radiological studies, etc.
-Refers to appropriate specialists or community services, i.e. Therapy, DME
-Addresses recommended preventive and quality measures; acts to close or facilitate potential care gaps
-Communicates effectively with entire care team including the patient's community primary care provider and health plan care/service coordinator.
-Documents all patient encounters (in-home and telephonic) per documentation standards.
-Communicate with provider of patient needs and institute care changes per provider instructions
-Maintains excellent punctuality and attendance during work hours.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant
- CPR certified
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
