Overall Summary
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to provide clients with various accounting duties requiring some evaluation, ingenuity, and accuracy on a timely basis. Our professionals utilize a client-focused approach to all our engagements and work closely with a diverse clientele. Duties are performed according to generally accepted accounting principles.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records for clients, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations as detailed below:
- Assist teams with month end closing procedures.
- Assist client with daily accounting services as needed.
- Reconcile clients’ bank accounts.
- Prepare required journal entries, including but not limited to payroll, depreciation, and expensing of prepaid items.
- Process Accounts Payable and check requests on a recurring basis, review general ledger to ensure consistency and accuracy of coding.
- Process Accounts Receivable invoices and maintain AR system records for clients: general ledger coding review for accuracy and consistency, process cash receipts on a recurring basis.
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and reconciliations for most asset/liability accounts and select revenue and expense accounts.
- Assist team with external audit and 990/ tax filings at year end by preparing schedules, providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing any other necessary information.
- Assist team with year-end vendor review for 1099 processing.
- Has direct communication with clients to perform work and address clients’ needs and questions as well as cultivate strong relationships with clients, understanding their business objectives and providing strategic financial advice to support their growth and success.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Performs consistent self-review to ensure accuracy of work.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and improve accuracy through automation and best practices.
Desired Skills and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or other related field.
- Experience in public accounting preferred.
- 3 years of related accounting experience.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting systems including Excel, QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, NetSuite, Expensify and other accounting software preferred. Experience with ProSystem fx Engagement a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively when building and maintaining client relationships.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to work in a matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate and direct a team of people.
