What are the responsibilities and job description for the DRC Coordinator-PT position at Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center?
Grassroots has an immediate opening for DRC Coordinator, PT providing services to Center guests, including greeting, mail, pantry services, shower & laundry, and referrals to resources. This position is 24 hours per week.
Schedule:
Monday and Wednesday; 11:00am – 6:30pm
Tuesday; 9:00am – 1:00/2:00pm
Saturday; 9:00am – 3:00pm
Qualified candidates for this position must have:
- AA degree or equivalent; and experience may be substituted for degree.
- One year of experience working with the homeless population is preferred.
- Experience working in a volunteer-oriented organization or program is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to lift to 20 pounds.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide services to Center guests, including greeting, mail, pantry services, shower & laundry, and referrals to resources.
- Coordinate with Volunteer Coordinator to ensure proper coverage during service hours.
- Support guests and volunteers during service hours.
- Record donations and assist in processing.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Provides back-up for Center Manager and Community Resource Specialist
- Assist with orienting and training volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Agency-wide Responsibilities:
- Participate in supervision, in-service training, and staff meetings.
- Maintains good working relationships with co-workers and positively contributes to group morale.
- Completes all administrative duties, including time sheets, leave requests, etc.
- Uses appropriate channels of communication to resolve conflicts with other staff.
- Interacts with staff, clients, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
Skills and Abilities:
- Basis computer skills required, including the use of MS Word and Excel
- Ability to work with volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Crisis intervention
- Understanding of mental illness, substance misuse, and issues concerning homelessness
Work Conditions include:
- Most work is performed in open Center environment.
- First floor, accessible building with onsite and remote parking.
- Most work is performed onsite; occasional offsite hours may be necessary.
- Work hours include Saturday, holiday, and evening hours.
- Hours must be flexible to accommodate cooling and warming center events
