Director of Center for Workplace Learning:  

Role: 
Responsible for the development and administrative oversight of workforce and recreational programs for business/industry and community in alignment with strategic initiatives.
 
The salary for this position is  $77,740.06  -  $116,610.08  per year.

  • Tuition-FT employees, their spouse & dependents are eligible for coverage of full Grayson College tuition amount.  
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • 35%  Conducts needs assessments, develops and evaluates workforce training curricula in collaboration with content-mastery committees and credentialing agencies, designs instructional resources, and manages training labs. Oversees program administration, including budget and facility management, as well as special projects.
  • 30%  Directs personnel, including hiring, training, coaching, performance appraisals, and overseeing staff in various roles within the department.
  • 10%  Partners with the marketing department to develop outreach strategies and community education programs, including identifying trending topics, sourcing instructional resources, addressing diverse student needs, and evaluating enrichment programs for various populations like senior adults and youth.
  • 10%  Plans and manages departmental budgets exceeding $1 million, ensuring effective allocation of resources for workforce training and development initiatives. Also manages grant-funded projects, including TWC-funded programs, ensuring budget, personnel, and reporting compliance.
  • 5%  uilds and maintains partnerships with internal college departments, community agencies, and businesses/industries to enhance program offerings and create workforce development opportunities.
  • 5%  Ensures adherence to state reporting requirements, such as contact hour reporting and training program metrics, while assisting with programmatic development, grant proposal writing, and budgetary planning for new initiatives.
  • 5%  Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:
  1. To ensure effective communication within the College and with the external stakeholders.
  2. To develop and deliver an innovative and strategic array of educational solutions that meet economic and workforce development needs, as well as the professional and personal needs of individual learners.
  3. To ensure performance reviews completed within 2 weeks of the due date.
  4. To ensure effective student services and high quality customer service are provided.
  5. To coordinate the preparation of all information pertaining to the continuing education programs which appear in any college publication or vehicle.
  6. To note observations of employee performance into appropriate reporting tool, as well as, give to and receive feedback from employee on the same no later than XX working days following each quarter.
  7. To ensure appropriate program certifications and accreditations.

Knowledge and Skills: 
  • Experience:   Five years to ten years of similar or related experience.
  • Education:   A Bachelor's degree.
  • Interpersonal Skills:   A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
  • Other Skills:   Serves as a liaison between community partners and others.
  • Physical Requirements:   The work is typically sedentary. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to do the work.
  • Work Environment:   Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office.
