Greenhouse Staff/Horticulture Support
Job description
We're looking for a greenhouse staff member to join our production team within the Bitterroot Valley. Production is the backbone of Great Bear and is involved in everything plant-related: from sowing seeds and thinning starts in the greenhouses to maintaining plants in the shade houses, and finally preparing plants for delivery and shipping.
The applicant should have:
- Experience in agriculture, horticulture, restoration or a related field
- Good communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to *safely* lift 50 pounds from the ground and carry load
- General understanding of how to take care of and work with plants
- Ability to stand for 3-4 hours at a time
- Experience working outdoors in the elements
- Enthusiasm for working with plants
- Positive attitude
- Organizational skills
Starting Wage: $16-18/hr pending experience and qualifications.
Hours: 32 hours/week Mon-Thur
This position begins in March and ends October 31st
This position has the opportunity to return for multiple seasons.
Greenhouse Staffer Tasks Include (but are not limited to):
- Sowing, thinning and watering in the greenhouses as directed
- Potting up of liner stock to larger size pots
- Assisting with container management
- Picking, loading and shipping orders
- Pruning, culling, weeding, watering and other plant maintenance outdoors
- Collecting seed and other plant material
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Assisting with seasonal setup/teardown and repairs
