Section Leader: Growing

Job Summary:

The Section Leader will oversee a section of plants, supervise a team and work closely the with Assistant Head Grower and Head Grower to maintain the quality of the plants and the goal of the nursery.

Duties/Responsibilities:

·         Supervise and manage a team

·         Manage daily tasks given by the Growers; including plant quality, watering, plant moving, weed control and fertilizing

·         Assist in scouting for diseases and insects

·         Collect information about the plant’s condition/needs and deliver to the grower

·         Able to work with other supervisors and managers

·         Manage equipment under growing department

·         Management of irrigation

·         Management of greenhouse temperature

·         Documentation and reporting as assigned

·         Any additional duties as assigned

Skills/Qualifications:

·         Must be eligible to work in the United States

·         High School Diploma or equivalent

·         Previous experience supervising a team

·         1 year or more of greenhouse nursery experience

·         Experience in irrigation

·         Experience in Greenhouse temperature control

·         Driver’s license preferred

·         Knowledge of excel, word, outlook, teams, and general computer experience is a plus

·         Bilingual, preferred

Physical Requirements:

·         Must be able to work in all Greenhouse conditions including wet, humid, dusty, dirty, and extreme hot/cold temperatures.

·         Must be able to lift or move up to 40lbs and push/pull racks on wheels of up to 100lbs.

·         The job requires employees to be on their feet for long periods of time, and perform repetitive motion.
