What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specialized Care Team-Assistant Team Manager position at Green Mountain Support Services?
Core duties:
1. Specialized Care Team DSP - Work one regularly assigned shift each week and then work as the Specialized Care Team’s designated floater, maintaining availability to work any open direct support shifts Tuesday-Saturday each week.
2. Assistant Team Manager – Perform essential management functions when the Team Manager is off including staff support; attending medical appointments; maintaining and supplying the program site; arranging substitute coverage; and on-call duties for designated shifts.
On-Call duties are compensated as a separate stipend of $25 per day of service. Position is on-call every Friday and Saturday as well as when the Team Manager has planned vacation time. On-call requires you to be available 24/7 to
a. Respond to any team questions or concerns
b. Receive and respond to critical incidents
c. Arrange substitute coverage for staff call outs
d. Provide emergency coverage if no other staff are available to work
3. Be cross-trained to provide skilled DSP support to other individuals should full-time support not be needed on the Specialized Care Team.
Other Functions:
Other duties as assigned by the SCT Program Manager.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: (Minimum education, experience, technical and communication skill levels required to perform the essential functions of this position.)
- High School diploma or equivalent; BA or BS preferred.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills.
- Ability to lead a team that demonstrates a high degree of collegiality and collaboration.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License, acceptable driving record, and be able to drive a van.
- Must be able to provide physical support in the shallow end of a pool.
- Must be able to walk for up to 45 minutes across ordinary terrain, including outdoors in all seasons.
- Must have basic computers skills sufficient to complete work-related documentation, communicate with coworkers, and submit timesheets.
- Must be able to provide diabetes care, including insulin administration.
- Must be able to listen well and use alternative communication tools.
- Must be able to maintain and project calm.
- Must be able to provide physical and personal care support.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to remain flexible in response to the individual’s changing needs.
- Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS: (Typical working conditions for this position and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered while doing essential functions of this position.)
Work is normally performed in a climate-controlled home environment and in indoor and outdoor community settings such as stores, pools, and walking trails. Work may involve exposure to aggressive behavior and bodily fluids/waste. There is a risk of needle stick injuries.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: (The physical effort generally associated with this position.)
Work may include occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing approximately 50 pounds. Work involves supporting an adult with physical transfers. Work may include physical assistance to the individual to maintain balance or get out of the water. Work sometimes involves driving.
