Job Description
The Director of Purchasing oversees purchasing, inventory, and material needs for the Fire District in this annually appointed role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages all RFPs (requests for proposals) related to procurement activities.
- Coordinates with vendors and contractors to meet the district's supply requirements.
- Tracks procurement budgets and reports any variances to the Board of Fire Commissioners and Treasurer.
- Ensures compliance with NYS Fire District laws and regulations.
- Manages inventory, testing, and repairs of equipment through authorized software.
- Oversees the EMS supply system and conducts firefighter fit testing as needed.
- Acts as primary liaison with vendors and contractors.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in MS Office, QuickBooks, or similar software.
- Familiarity with NYS Fire District laws and regulations.
- Associate's degree or 3 years of experience in procurement.
Requirements:
- Bondable, NYS driver's license, DMV/LENS enrollment, and district residency (or willingness to relocate).
