GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Department of Physical Sciences in the School of Arts & Sciences invites applications for Instructor/Assistant Professors in Physics. This department at Greenville Technical College enrolls over 1,000 students and employs eight full-time, dedicated faculty members and several adjuncts, each of whom is supported by a strong technical staff.
The mission of the department is to create a teaching and learning experience of superior quality, focusing on critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. We strive to connect the physical sciences with life sciences and applied sciences, such as medicine and engineering. Our students earn an associate of science degree that allows them to transfer seamlessly to four-year institutions. Classes are offered in the traditional and online format.
In this challenging role, you will support the Physical Science department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following:
- Teach lectures and laboratories in Physics
- Prepare lectures, syllabi, and tests
- Grade and assess student work
- Develop and implement new classroom strategies
- Consult with students and advise on academic progress
- Maintain competence through continuous professional development
- Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Doctorate or a Master's degree with a major in Physics OR a Doctorate or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Physics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Have the ability to work with colleagues/students and to convey knowledge in a form that students can understand. Adaptable to students' needs, to different teaching situations, and be able to motivate students. Able to work in teams and independently. Previous teaching experience.
