Job Title: Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator consultant.
Location: Annapolis, MD ( Two (2) days remote and 3 days on site.)
Interview: in-person
The Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator will manage and optimize the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The resource will be responsible for ensuring system stability, security, and performance while supporting a range of enterprise applications. This role requires advanced expertise in Linux administration, automation, troubleshooting, and security best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. The Offeror shall propose a resource that meet the following minimum qualifications:
a. Bachelor s degree, or postgraduate degree, in engineering, computer science, or related field
b. Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator.
(1) Certification must be issued by Red Hat and include the resource s valid certification number.
c. Ten (10) or more years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator.
d. Ten (10) or more years of experience administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.
e. Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in the Information Technology (IT) field.
SCOPE OF WORK
f. Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, testing, and production environments.
g. Performing system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening to ensure compliance with industry standards.
h. Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
i. Implementing automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python to streamline system administration tasks.
j. Configuring and maintaining Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ecosystem tools.
k. Collaborating with security teams to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities and comply with security policies.
l. Maintaining and optimizing storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
m. Supporting application teams by providing guidance on best practices for Linux-based deployments.
n. Maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
o. Participating in on-call support and incident resolution activities as required.
p. Setup Network File Server (NFS) and mount points.
q. Configuring Chron jobs for both systems and applications.
Experience with:
(1) Working in a complex networked system environment with strong networking.
(2) Administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.
(3) Administering systems including, but not limited to, the applications below:
i Oracle WebLogic Servers
ii Oracle Database Servers
iii Progress 4GL/Database Servers/OpenEdge
iv Apache Web Servers
v vSphere hosted RHEL Servers.
vi Rubrik backup systems.
vii Oracle Database backups.
viii PeopleSoft
ix Mobius
x Elastic Search
xi Oracle OBI
xii CVS (Concurrent Version System)
(4) Red Hat performance tuning.
(5) Load balancing, partitioning, back-up/recovery, and disaster recovery.
(6) Working in an environment that requires 24/7 system availability.
(7) Application development.
(8) Red Hat Support.
(9) Electronic Imaging Support.
r. Ability to:
