About the Role:
This is a Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer for a premier hospital facility in Houston, TX. In this vital role, you’ll work alongside pediatric critical care physicians and hospitalists, providing exceptional echocardiographic imaging for pediatric patients with intensive care needs. Qualifications:
- Certification in Basic or Advanced Life Support (BLS or ACLS) – Required
- One (1) of the following Sonographer Certifications – Required:
- RCS – Registered Cardiac Sonographer (CCI)
- RCCS – Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (CCI)
- RDCS – Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (ARDMS)
Pediatric Echocardiography Experience:
- Minimum of 6 months pediatric echo experience
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Cardiac Sonography, Radiologic Technology, or Sonography Technology program (preferred)
- Physical Ability: Must be able to lift and maneuver patients with assistance
Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality pediatric echocardiograms: prepare, position, and apply appropriate imaging techniques.
- Accurately enter and maintain patient data.
- Ensure optimal image quality for diagnosis and treatment.
- Provide excellent patient and family-centered customer service.
- Participate in quality assurance and assist with equipment accreditation processes.
- Handle emergency calls and provide in-house and on-call coverage.
- Follow hospital protocols to ensure a safe care environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Engage in performance improvement initiatives and mandatory education.
- Mentor and precept less experienced staff members.
- Contribute to team goals and perform additional duties as needed.
Skills:
Pediatric Echocardiography – Skilled in performing transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) and recognizing congenital heart defects
Ultrasound Imaging Techniques – Proficient in acquiring, interpreting, and optimizing cardiac ultrasound images
Anatomical & Pathological Knowledge – Strong understanding of pediatric cardiac anatomy and congenital abnormalities
Equipment Operation & Maintenance – Familiarity with cardiac ultrasound machines, image archiving systems (PACS), and quality control procedures
Emergency Response – Ability to respond to critical/emergencies and provide urgent imaging support
Salary : $90,000 - $135,000
