Gritman Medical Center is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for processing payroll and maintaining accurate employee master files, ensuring timely and compliant payroll operations for the entire Gritman Medical network.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and update employee master files, including compensation, benefits, and personnel data.
- Perform upgrades and updates to payroll systems as needed.
- Update and manage time clock systems.
- Review payroll reports for consistency and accuracy, resolving discrepancies with department leaders.
- Calculate tax deductions, benefits, and other adjustments for unusual or changed payroll data.
- Ensure the completeness and accuracy of employee pay history for W-2 processing.
- Process W-2s for employees and handle associated federal and state filings.
- Prepare and file federal and state tax documents monthly, quarterly, and annually.
- Assist with monthly financial closings by preparing and reconciling assigned accounts.
- Participate in relevant meetings and training sessions.
- Perform additional finance-related duties as assigned.
Education
- No specific educational requirements.
- Experience with payroll systems, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word is required.
- Knowledge of tax codes is required.
- College coursework or a degree in business or a related field is preferred.
- Occasionally lift/carry supplies and equipment up to 30 lbs.
- Occasionally push/pull equipment and file cabinet drawers up to 20 lbs.
- Occasionally climb stairs, stoop, kneel, or crouch to access lower cabinets or files.
- Frequent reaching, handling, and fingering for paperwork, phones, and computers.
- Constant talking, hearing, and seeing for effective interaction with staff and vendors.
- Work is performed indoors with minimal exposure to biohazardous materials.
