Power City Electric, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and efficient team player to join our Accounting Department as a Payroll and Billing Specialist. This role requires a meticulous individual with the ability to work independently and make precise decisions. The ideal candidate will process union payroll and handle customer billings with confidentiality and adherence to strict deadlines and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing:
- Accurately process union payroll for approximately 125-175 employees weekly, ensuring compliance with union rules, overtime, and withholdings.
- Set up new hires and process layoff checks.
- Prepare, file, and pay monthly union benefits.
- Organize and maintain paper and electronic payroll records.
- File Intents to Pay Prevailing Wage, Affidavit of Wages Paid, and Weekly Certified Payrolls, meeting all deadlines consistently.
- Manage payroll tax payments, garnishments, and other agency payments.
- General Ledger: Enter weekly Journal Entries into the General Ledger.
- Service Billings: Handle billing of 15-25 small service billings per week.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum two years of payroll experience (construction industry experience preferred).
- High School diploma required, post-high school accounting classes preferred.
- Accounting Degree may be considered in lieu of Payroll or industry experience
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a positive attitude.
- Proven punctuality and dependability.
- Commitment to accuracy and a desire for meticulous work.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
- Physical ability to file paperwork, access file cabinets, typical bending and lifting associated with an office job.
- Maintain a pleasant and professional work demeanor.
Job Preferences:
- Experience with Spectrum accounting software.
- Experience with IBEW Union Payroll and Certified Payroll.
- Over two years of construction industry accounting experience.
Wages and Benefits:
- Pay: $23 to $27 per hour starting wage, DOE, with potential increases as job duties grow.
