Staff Accountant I
Department: Accounting
Reports to: Staff Accountant II

Salary: 45K-55K
Summary: The Staff Accountant I supports the accounting department by overseeing accounting functions including accounts payable, and other related accounting duties.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities:
- Reconciliations for Employee Insurance.
- Tracking utilities for GCI buildings.
- Credit card transactions both expense and receipts: perform data entry, post the payment, reconcile, and sync to Quickbooks on a daily basis.
- Maintain grant sheets for Chief Program Officer.
- Accounts Payable (Backup):
- Assembles reviews and verifies invoices against purchase orders.
- Enters invoices as bills and prints checks out of QuickBooks.
- Responds to all internal and external accounts payable inquiries.
- Monitors account to ensure payments are up to date.
- Performs research and resolves invoice discrepancies and issues.
- Maintains vendor files and scans all accounts payable documentation in the accounting drive.
- Provides supporting documentation and schedules for auditors.
- Backup for Payroll.
- Backup for customer invoicing.
- Other duties as assigned by the Controller, CFO, and supervisor.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or a minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- At least 1-year experience in a clerical position is required.
- Excellent computer skills, and knowledge in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google documents, sheets, and media platforms (Zoom).
- Not-for-profit industry experience preferred
- QuickBooks experience helpful
- Knowledge of accounting principles and finance
- Detail Oriented
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must have great organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Excel and Word
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines

Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
