Position Summary:
We are currently looking for a Project Accountant. This person would be responsible for filing intents/affidavits, issuing POs, and additional administrative functions to support our commercial and residential divisions.
- This position is remote, but residency in Washington State is preferred.
Schedule:
- M-F, business hours are 7:30 - 4:30
Pay:
- $25-$28 per hour
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Filing intents/affidavits
- Issuing purchase orders
- Review contracts prior to execution and manage any review by outside counsel as necessary
- Work closely with the Sales Dept and customers to ensure that project documentation is complete
- Enter new jobs into our accounting/operations software
- Ensure contract compliance by submitting any forms required prior to job start
- Complete and submit periodic forms to the customer such as Lien Releases, Certified Payroll Reports, and Schedule of Values in a timely manner
- Process partial, final, and retention billings based on information from the Sales and Operations Departments
- Provide customer and project team with additional information and supporting documentation for billings as requested
- Support the Sales and Operations Depts by preparing periodic cost reports
- Assist A/R with proper application of payments on commercial projects
- Assist with collection of outstanding receivables on commercial projects
- Perform final project closeout duties including internal audit of project performance
- Experience reviewing contracts
- Prepare for and assist with external project audits
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience:
- Positive attitude and willingness to work with others
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting or equivalent experience
- 3 years as a Project Accountant in a construction-related field with knowledge of WIP accounting
- Solid understanding of and experience with Job Cost Accounting including Cost Control, Budgets, Projections, Contract Administration, and Accounts Receivable administration
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to various situations prioritizing multiple work assignments simultaneously
- Ability to communicate effectively with external and internal customers
- Strong planning skills and ability to independently provide support/follow up on current projects
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel
- Must be self-motivated, hard-working, performance driven and reliable
- Experience with and understanding of Public Works Contracts (Intents/Affidavits, Certified payroll, etc.) is a plus
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:
- None required.
Computer Skills:
- Intermediate or higher proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Products is required.
- Intermediate or higher technical skills when using computers is required.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job is 99% sedentary and it uses fingers, hands, arms when working with mouse, keyboard, monitors. Close vision and distance vision are necessary. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally will lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
