What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reentry Coordinator position at Guilford County?
Responsible for performing professional and administrative work for the Re-entry In-service program and community transitions for residents.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An employee in this class recruits and collaborates with non-profits, churches, vocational, medical, substance abuse, mental health service providers and other local and state governmental professionals, who provide services for individuals reentering the community after incarceration. They will also coordinate in-service efforts to support participants in the High Point and Greensboro Detention Center.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Provides coordination for the pre-re-entry in-service component of the program in the detention centers.
- Continuously revise and update in-service materials.
- Assist with case management and Inservice visits as needed.
- Submittal of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Develops and maintains productive community partnerships with reentry groups, local service providers.
- Works with returning citizens and local service providers to plan for successful reintegration from incarceration into Guilford County
- Coordinate activities of local partners, attend programs and agency related meetings and conferences.
- Ensures that case planning meets the needs of the individuals and encompasses appropriate partnerships, support, and services.
- Ensure that collaborative research, development, strategies, and awareness education meet the needs of the reentry citizens, community, and criminal justice system.
- Works closely with reentry partners in the collection of data, report writing, analysis, trend reviews, and revisions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, pretrial conditions and release.
- Comprehensive knowledge of changing needs of citizens, community resources, criminal justice system, and alternatives to incarceration.
- Knowledge of case management and leadership techniques.
- Knowledge of resume writing, interview techniques, skill building, vocational training avenues.
- Ability to maintain excellent public relations through community organization, negotiation, mediation, conflict management, and facilitation.
- Ability to inspire community participation and build coalitions.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement in routine and emergency situations.
- Ability to deal tactfully and firmly with inmates and the public.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education or related field and two years case management and community engagement.
- Associates degree in Social Work, Human Services, Adult Education or related field and four years of experience in case management and community engagement.
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, or other related Human Services.

An employee in this position must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Additionally, the employee must be able to perform very medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
May Require Driving
This position may require driving for this position whether driving a County owned or personal vehicle to conduct county business such as but not limited to attending conferences, meetings, or any other county related functions. Motor Vehicle Reports may be verified for valid driver's license and that the driving record is compatible with the county's driving criteria.
If a personal vehicle is operated for county business proper insurance is maintained as per Guilford County's vehicle use policy.
