DAY TO DAY AS A PATIENT ACCESS SPECIALIST

As a Full-Time Patient Access Specialist at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics, you'll play a pivotal role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for patients, visitors, and staff at the front desk. You'll expertly operate the hospital switchboard while adhering to proper telephone etiquette and protocols for call handling. In addition to managing cashier activities and ensuring accurate accounting of all department funds, you'll post payments to patient accounts and balance the cash drawer at the end of each shift. Your responsibilities also include scheduling appointments, completing registrations, and conducting pre-registrations and HOD registrations. Emphasizing teamwork, you'll contribute positively to the department while utilizing your knowledge of EHR systems, preferably EPIC, to enhance patient experiences and streamline operations.

To excel as a Full-Time Patient Access Specialist at Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics, several key skills and qualifications are essential. A High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required, providing a solid foundation for this vital administrative role. Attention to detail is crucial, as you will be managing patient registrations, scheduling appointments, and processing payments accurately.

The ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment, often with multiple interruptions, is vital to ensure optimal patient care. Strong verbal communication skills will help you engage with patients, visitors, and staff while providing exceptional customer service. Experience with the EPIC electronic health record system is preferred, enabling you to navigate patient information efficiently and contribute to a seamless healthcare experience.
