Our Distribution Center and Transportation Partners are key to helping stock H-E-B Stores and keeping our supply chain moving all over Texas and Mexico.As a Gate Coordinator, you'll perform operational duties that help improve trailer cycle time, enhance awareness of our trailer / fleet movements, and ensure yard management system data accuracy.Once you're eligible, you'll become an Owner in the company, so we're looking for commitment, hard work, and focus on quality and Customer service. 'Partner-owned' means our most important resources--People--drive the innovation, growth, and success that make H-E-B The Greatest Omnichannel Retailing Company.Do you have a:HEART FOR PEOPLE... communication skills to work with drivers and operational staff?HEAD FOR BUSINESS... ability to apply responsible, sensible problem-solving to troubleshoot and resolve issues?PASSION FOR RESULTS... drive to facilitate gate traffic, with safety, efficiency, and customer service in mind?We are looking for:- 3 years of related experience in yard management and / or receiving processes- working knowledge of receiving, dispatching, radio operation, or yard listingWhat is the work?Transportation Operations / Administration:- Uses internal yard management systems to record / monitor arrival and departure traffic (i.e. YMS, TMS, Mainframe CICS, Tumdock, etc.)- Communicates with Transportation and Warehouse operators (Yard Supervisors, Delivery Ops Partners, Warehouse Clerks) to: validate and prioritize purchase orders, resolve conflicting appointments, and notify them of early, late, or no appointment arrivals- Records external driver information at arrival (license number, phone number, carrier name, etc.)- Directs internal and external drivers to appropriate Warehouse; schedules on-the-spot appointments, as needed- Identifies type of activity / workflow (live or drop delivery, bobtail pickup, etc.); applies appropriate process- Looks up and validates shipment / purchase order in EXE / HOST- Expedites departures after unloading, if needed, to ensure efficient operations flow- Confirms and validates Warehouse comments on departing trailers- Applies knowledge and experience to resolve conflicts and solve problems- Troubleshoots and resolves or escalates issues, including managing exceptions, deliveries not recommended for dock door, non-system departures, etc.- Monitors and ensures quality and accuracy of system data entry (YMS and other internal systems); may recommend system and process improvements; supports standardization of instructions and processes- Runs reports in EXE, YMS, TMS (SCI Report), etc.- Communicates and clarifies procedures for drivers / operators; identifies safety, regulatory, and process issues- Assists with terminal / yard-wide operational duties, as needed- Identifies and notifies Security of suspicious activities; documents process exceptions and irregularities (property / equipment damage, theft, etc.); coordinates with Loss Prevention & Security, as needed, on security-related issues- May coach new Partners and Security Guards on proper arrival / departure procedures and policiesWhat is your background?- 3 years of experience in yard management and / or receiving processesDo you have what it takes to be a fit as a Gate Coordinator at H-E-B?- Working knowledge of receiving, dispatching, radio operation, or yard listing- Strong customer service and communication skills- Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks in a calm, sensible mannerCan you...- Function in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment- Stand for extended periods - Open trailer doors (up to 100 times or more per shift)- Hand / Finger dexterity- Work extended hours- Work rotating schedules including nights and weekends- Use arms / hands in repetitive motion during the day- Work in either a hot or cold environment for the duration of shift08-2019
