Job Overview
H&L Contracting LLC is looking for a Safety Director that plays a pivotal role in ensuring the health and safety of all field employees. Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs that comply with local, state, and federal regulations. The Safety Director will work closely with various departments to foster a culture of safety and ensure that all safety protocols are adhered to.
Education/Certifications:
BS Occupational Safety & Health with Concentration in Construction Safety
Experience working with NYC Department of Buildings, Port Authority, LIRR, and MTA
Duties
- Develop and update safety policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with industry requirements.
- Provides proactive leadership and assumes ownership of building a sound safety culture by anticipating and providing solutions, sharing knowledge with and providing training to all field staff, including but not limited to, superintendents, foreman, and project managers.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver regular safety trainings that meet the needs of internal and external requirements to ensure a safe work environment. Update as needed.
- Investigates incidents, injuries, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with field personnel to conduct safety inspections and develop preventative and corrective practices and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries and accidents.
- Ensures accident and injury reports are completed within the required timeframe.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
