Who We Are:
Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (Habitat CFC) is a non-profit organization based in Bridgeport, CT dedicated to partnering with low-income families, community volunteers and donors to build affordable homes in Coastal Fairfield County. Since 1985, we have dedicated 291 homes and helped more than 1,100 family members.
Our retail ReStore, located in Stratford, accepts donations of furniture, appliances and building materials, and then sells them. The net proceeds from the ReStore help our organization build more affordable housing in Coastal Fairfield County.
Job Description:
The Director of Finance oversees all aspects of Habitat CFC’s affiliate and ReStore accounting, & finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overseeing the indirect operations for HFHCFC including managing all financial operations including budgeting, cash flow, general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets and annual audit. Manage a staff of two which includes a Finance Assistant and Office Manager.
- Apply and administer State and Federal grant programs including HTCC, ARP, HOME, CDBG, FHLB and others.
- Responsible for all cash management to maximize cash flow for the organization. Process daily cash receipts and manage deposits, maintain daily cash balances, line of credit activity, unrestricted and restricted funds and cash reports as needed.
- Work with external auditors and lead the annual audit and 990 preparations.
- Work closely with all departments to assist in budget development and reconciliation, forecasting, and providing financial reporting metrics.
- Negotiate and direct all administrative vendor relationships including Information Technology, Business Systems, and Utilities.
- Compiling and maintaining the operating and capital budgets and provide monthly variance analysis Excel reports comparing the budget to actual data across all departments.
- Ensuring the propriety of all internal and external financial reporting. Produce annual, semiannual, monthly, weekly and as needed affiliate statistic reports, grant analysis reports, mortgage, and delinquency reports that generally include demographic, population, and financial metrics.
- Serve as the lead administrator for all the affiliate Insurance programs including Medical, Dental, Life, General Liability, Worker’s Compensation, Auto and others.
- Ensure completion of monthly sales & use tax filings, W-9 collection, 1099 distribution, and form 5500.
Requirements:
· Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
· 7 years of professional experience in an accounting/finance role.
· 3 years of supervisory experience
· Solid understanding of non-profit accounting and GAAP.
· Strong Excel skills a must – including V-Lookups and Pivot Tables.
· Raiser’s Edge Software knowledge a plus.
· Strong time management, organization, and planning skills with exceptional attention to detail
· A professional and resourceful style and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

Salary: Commensurate with experience
Hybrid Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
